IDAHO FALLS — With a loss to league rival Moscow Saturday morning, the two-time defending champion Sandpoint Bulldogs were eliminated from this year's 4A state volleyball tournament at Bonneville High School.

Moscow's 25-23, 25-20, 25-19 victory advanced the Bears, while Sandpoint (21-12) finished their season tied for fifth with Emmett.

"Not bad for a team that wasn't supposed to do much this year," said Sandpoint head coach Tiwi Nicks. "We only had two players who had ever played in a state tournament. So I think this was a good experience for the rest of them."

Senior Kelsey James led the Bulldogs with 19 kills and 22 assists. Junior Cody Helander had 10 digs, senior Caitlyn Free finished with five blocks and senior Traci Kutzleb scored two aces.

"I think they all had the right attitude going in, we just came up short," added Nicks. "I'm still very proud of them."
