Bypass can only help walking/biking trails
Seems that the anti's have developed a new tactic. Since the majority of Bonner County inhabitants are in favor of the bypass, the anti's are recruiting tourists to tout the beauty of Sand Creek.
It's true that the creek is a thing of beauty, four months out of 12. I still fail to see how the bypass is going to change how we access City Beach, the railroad berm prevents sight and access to the lake with the exceptions being Cedar Street Bridge, and Bridge Street. Where are these hiking, walking trails alongside the creek.
The Aug. 31, 2004, Bee had a letter in it that complained about the bypass being "overhead" and blocking their view of the sun as they sat on a restaurant deck, sipping their favorite beverage. Let's see, if I was to sit on any of those decks, all facing east, looking for the sun that would mean I'd be there around 6:30-7 a.m. As to the "overhead," none of the descriptions that I've seen place the bypass crossing over any of the buildings downtown. I fail to see much difference between the existing berm and the byway in reference to sight and access to the lake. When the bypass is completed, there will indeed be a walking/biking path along the creek.
Been up to Mullan lately? That freeway/bypass has definitely helped their city.
