Shoppers wrong to base purchase on bypass

| September 6, 2004 9:00 PM

So the intimidation continues in Sunday's letters to the editor — 180 businesses, growing by the day, choose to purchase ad space to exercise our constitutional right to represent our viewpoint.

Not one has ever encouraged intimidation of anyone who has a different opinion. Not one has encouraged the recall of anybody for making foolish and intimidating statements. Not one has discussed boycotting people or businesses that are in favor of a highway in Sand Creek.

Why are there some who feel the need to intimidate others from expressing their opinion by calling for boycotts and name calling? Express your opinion, as is your right, but please remember we are in America and respect our right to do the same.

What will be next in your decision to shop or not shop? Religion? Political viewpoint? Skin color? Shame on you, and shame on our newspaper and elected representatives for not taking a stand against the fingerpointing, name calling, and intimidation of businesses that are the lifeblood of our town and just trying to make a living like everyone else.
