Bruce Curtis

| September 16, 2004 9:00 PM

My loving husband, Bruce Curtis, died Sept. 6, 2004, peacefully at his home in Colburn, Idaho.

He was born Jan. 12, 1949, in Worchester, Mass.

He was well known as an outstanding executive chef and also had taught culinary arts through Job Corps. He got the biggest kick out of me running for a fire extinguisher the first time he made one of his fabulous flaming sauces for me. Luckily, he was very tolerant of my cooking even though he said I was "culinary challenged."

Bruce loved organic farming and a lot of people have told me how helpful his gardening advice has been. Bruce was a lifelong Harley man. Now that he's free of all of life's rigors, I'm sure he's up there right now building that new one he'd just gotten the plans for.

God blessed Bruce with so many talents. He had a brilliant, intellectual mind. From physics to theology, he always stayed informed. I'll miss those conversations. I'll also miss that beautiful, rich singing voice. He filled my life with love songs and happy songs, and every day he showed me how much he loved me as I made sure he knew how much I loved him.

Bruce, the "Rev," was a doctor of divinity. His church, the universe. His good deeds have not gone unnoticed. His pet peeves were people who try to dispel God and patriotism from our society.

He is so very missed by his wife, Sandy; his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Mike Osbek; his three granddaughters; his mother, Ruth Curtis; and his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Al Rowe. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore; and his sister, Gayle.

Bruce did not wish any funeral services. He knew his family would gather around me, and they have. I thank them all for the comfort and help and love. I am following his personal instructions for his journey after cremation, with his final resting place being in Massachusetts.
