SANDPOINT — With three assists and a goal, Sandpoint senior Chris Hepperly led the Bulldogs in a solid 6-0 Inland Empire League victory over Lake City Tuesday at Memorial Field.

In the opening moments of the game, junior Micheal Brewer was the first Bulldog to tattoo a pass from Hepperly into the back of the net. The next was a goal by Anthony Sorentino in the 20th minute, seconds before Hepperly scored a goal of his own to give Sandpoint a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

"I think everyone played hard, trying to make up for what had been lost in the first half of the game," said Lake City coach Adriano Eva. "But it is pretty hard to come back from that."

After the half, Brandon Eddy received an assist from Hepperly to score the first of his two goals. Eddy's second goal, assisted by Chase Lowther, fell in the 68th minute.

"We grew up a little bit tonight, which we needed to do," said Sandpoint coach Randy Thoreson. "When you can hold a fast team like Lake City to just one shot on goal something's going right."

With the game well out of reach, RJ Dixon assisted Sorentino in adding one more goal to his personal total in the final seconds of play.

"I was so pleased with our intensity … and they played well in every facet of the game," he added.

Sandpoint (4-2-1, 7-2-1) travels to Moscow to face the Bears on Thursday.

COEUR d'ALENE — The Lake City goal appeared to have a bull's-eye on it Tuesday as the Sandpoint Bulldogs blasted their way to a 5-0 victory.

"It was the last game against Lake City for nine seniors and they made the most of it," said Sandpoint coach Adam Tajan. "It was a bit slow in the first half, because we just couldn't find the back of the net, but we had lots of chances."

The Bulldogs, who finished with a total of 15 shot on goal, finally struck paydirt in the 31st minute when Katie Adams, assisted by Abby Jensen, made a quick turn and scored from 20 yards out.

"That was a nice goal," said Tajan. "Their keeper didn't even respond and it really put us in good shape heading into the half."

Continuing to pound the ball into Lake City's back field, Sandpoint eventually wore down the Timberwolves and the result was a flurry of four goals in eight minutes.

Kicking the rally of goals off in the 64th minute, Kylie France scored from 18 yards out with a rocket that hit the left hand side of the net. Becca Stone, with assists from Allison Gillis and Angie Menghini, respectively, added two of the goals and Abby Jensen floated a free kick in for good measure.

The shutout was Lake City's second worst loss ever — the worst was 6-0 last year at home.
