Bulldogs and Wampus Cats at home tonight

| September 29, 2004 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — In what may be Sandpoint's biggest test to date, the Bulldogs face the Lewiston Bengals at 7 p.m. tonight at Barlow Stadium.

"I think that Lewiston is the best 2-2 team in the state," said Sandpoint head coach Sean Dorris. "They dropped a close game against Clarkston, and against Post Falls they had 500 yards of offense — but then they turned over the ball four times (to lose the game)."

Offensively, the undefeated Bulldogs, who are currently averaging almost 300 yards of total offense per game while out scoring their first four opponents 121-13, should find success against the Bengal defense. Making the matchup to watch between Lewiston's offense and Sandpoint's defense, which has only given up one touchdown this season. Last week's touchdown by Bonners Ferry was scored off a fumbled punt return.

"I think it will be tough to maintain our streak," said Dorris. "Which makes this a great test for us."

Kootenai (1-3) at

Clark Fork (4-0)

CLARK FORK — Clark Fork won 38-6 at Kootenai in the nonleague season opener four weeks ago and tonight at 7 p.m. they hope to have a repeat performance.

"Kootenai is young, but they are a pretty good little football team," said Clark Fork head coach Frank Hammersley, who is expecting to run a very simular game plan against the Warriors tonight.

In the North Star League opener last week, Clark Fork beat Lakeside 62-20. The Wampus Cats are averaging 48.5 points per game and allowing 12.5. Meanwhile, Kootenai is coming off a 14-12 loss to Post Falls Christian.
