Clark Fork lights up the second half
CLARK FORK — After a fairly tight first half, Clark Fork broke the game open to cruise to a 54-6 North Star League victory over Kootenai Friday night.
"They were tough and I knew they would give us a good game," said Clark Fork head coach Frank Hammersley.
Leading the Wampus Cats with three touchdown off of three carries for 61 yards was junior Evan Martin.
"I thought he did a real good job of running his patterns and getting open tonight," said Hammersley. "Kyle Ruen did the same thing and we also had him open all night."
Ruen finished the game with three catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns, while senior quarterback Clayton Hewitt ran for 85 yards scoring two touchdowns. Clark Fork junior running back Brian Young also added one touchdown.
"In the third and fourth quarter we just flat out shut them down," said Hammersley, after the Wampus Cats ended things early in the fourth due to the 45-point rule. "In fact, I think they might of had minus yardage in the second half."
The Wampus Cats (5-0) play Charlo, Mont. on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Clark Fork.
