Ernest H. Tholke

Ernest H. Tholke passed away March 23, 2005, after a long struggle with cancer.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Ernest, a decorated veteran of World War II, served as master sergeant in the South Pacific and participated in the liberation of Luzon.

He was born Nov. 7, 1921, and spent his childhood in Centerville and Diamond Valley in Alpine County, Calif., where he became a blacksmith, welder and machinist. He worked his trades among the ranch communities of Douglas County, Nev.

Following World War II, Ernest lived and raised three sons in Reno, Nev. Approximately 28 years ago, Ernest who longed for an alpine setting again, relocated to North Idaho, where he started a new business and lived the remainder of his life.

His three sons and a granddaughter survive him.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Panhandle Animal Shelter in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
