Height restrictions aren't the full story
There have been a number of articles recently, addressing the proposed building height change — all of them have stated that the proposed height restriction will limit building height to 60 feet. This is not the full story.
At the last Planning Committee meeting, the one at which the proposal was tabled, it was brought out that the true height permissible under the restriction would be 75 feet. This is because the roofline is not what the restriction covers. As I understand it, the proposal restricts the elevation of the top of the highest floor or main structure. The roof is addressed separately in the ordinance and may be up to 15 feet higher than the building. The result is that the overall height of the building could be 75 feet.
