Ann L. "LiAnn" Pfeiffer-Murphy, 74, passed away, Wednesday morning, April 6, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Visitation will be held at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 S. Olive, Sandpoint, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12. A memorial celebrating her active and productive life will be held at 11 a.m, Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Lakeview Funeral Home.
LiAnn was born on Nov. 4, 1930, the only child to Lewell and Esther Lafferty in Dallas, Texas. She studied at schools in Texas, California, New York, and elsewhere; worked at various museums and exhibit halls; and became well respected for her work as a textile expert, collector, and museum curator.
She traveled extensively, and was a collector of artistic and historic items such as Native costumes and fabrics from Peru and elsewhere, and also to broaden her understanding and appreciation for natural beauty and worldwide spiritualistic beliefs and practices. She has served as an assistant pastor of a Science of the Mind Church in San Francisco for several years.
LiAnn moved to the Sandpoint area in 1994. She has been an active and hardworking member of the Fiber Arts Guild, the Civic Club, the museum board, and other important local and country-wide organizations. She often attended Sunday Meetings with the Sandpoint Friends (Quakers), and was a frequent visitor at the First Presbyterian Church. She and Howard Murphy were married on June 30, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Murphy of Sandpoint; two stepsons, Jan Pfeiffer of Oakland, Calif., and Jack (Anne Rindal) Pfeiffer of Denmark; and two grandchildren, Emily (age five) and Amanda (age 1).
