Mary E. Pierce
Mary E. Pierce passed away at her home in Millwood, April 6, 2005, after her battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held this Friday, April 15, 2005, at 2 p.m., Spokane Valley Elks.
Mary was born in Clark Fork, Idaho, 1928 to Swan and Elizabeth Nelson. She was the "baby" of nine children, six of whom preceded her in death.
In 1946, after graduating, she married Glade Pierce. Glade was a railroader and their life carried them from Clark Fork to Montana and, in 1960, to Spokane. Glade passed away in 2003.
Mary had lots of "joys" in her life. Family and friends, gardening, traveling, spending time on Pend Oreille. Perhaps her greatest fun, however, was sports. From the Mariners and the Pros to the Cougs and the Zags she was a true fan. Years prior, watching her sons, nephews and grandchildren playing sports was a highlight.
Mary was a member of Eiram Court No. 62, Es Sur Club No. 3, and the Elks.
Survivors include two sons Jerry (Teri) and Tommy, both of Sandpoint; six grandchildren; a sister, Esther Carlson of Puyallup, Wash.; a brother, Swan "Spud" (Jeanette) Nelson of Portland, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Of course friends, past and present, were so important.
Donations may be made to the Shriners or the Elks.
Arrangements are under the guidance of Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206
