Unrestricted growth is not progress

| April 11, 2005 9:00 PM

Thank you, Jerry Luther, for your guest opinion. Unrestricted growth on building heights, without the proper planing and zoning, would definitely take its toll on our best assets. Primarily among these are our beauty and charm.

I've walked the "canyons" of Chicago, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles and others. Still in Italy and its cities Florence, Milan, Venice, Pisa, managed a grand and yet graceful pose to accept their surroundings for centuries. This as opposed to massive vertical steel displays of grandeur that passes as progress and integrity.
