Bulldog boys raise the bar in field events

POST FALLS — The Sandpoint Bulldogs pulled out a fourth place finish at this year's annual Christina Finney Co-Ed Relays at Post Falls High School Tuesday.

Courtney Adams led the Bulldog girls with a second place finish in the 200-yard sprint with a time of 26.69 seconds.

The Sandpoint boys were led by Charlie Hirning's 6-foot, 4-inch leap to win the high jump and Eric DeMers' winning long jump distance of 20 feet.

In the discus, Brian Resso had a first place toss for Sandpoint.

"I think it's our jumpers and throwers that have really lit the spark. Brian Resso (140-feet) won the discus today and Sean Lissy (130) was second. They've played a big part, so has Eric DeMers. Eric won the long jump and was second in the triple (43-feet)," said Sandpoint distance coach Rae Miller. "Those guys have sparked the rest of the team."

"Now you're starting to see the runners step up. Here's what our potential is, now it's time for us to get the job done," he said. "Chris Hawkins is starting to step up in the 800. Alex Shaw in the mile and C.J. Kritzeck in the two-mile are really showing improvement."
