Coeur d'Alene tops Sandpoint, 4-1

| April 14, 2005 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — A solo home run in the third inning by Mike Estrada highlighted an otherwise dreary day as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings slipped past Sandpoint 4-1 at Memorial Field Thursday.

"Considering the elements, it was one of those games where you just don't know what's going to happen," said Coeur d'Alene coach Brian Holgate. "It was a tough, brutal game and I thought (Daley) Benson threw one heck of a good game and we had the hits at the right time."

The Bulldogs were led at the plate by right fielder Clay Montgomery's two hits. Andy Lattin, Ricky Klontz and Jake Way also finished the day with hits.

Sandpoint plays Moscow in an IEL doubleheader at Memorial Field Saturday. The first game starts at noon.
