Eleanor 'Carol' Hepburn, 73

Eleanor 'Carol' Hepburn, 73, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint with the Rev. J.P. Carver, vicar, and the Rev. Barbara Carver, deacon, officiating.

Carol was born on July 5, 1931, in Portland, Ore., to Olof and Delphine Dahlberg.

She completed her nurse's training in Lewiston, Idaho, in 1952, at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. During her nursing career, Carol was able to travel and do many things that she loved. Her most memorable job was working in Saudi Arabia at the ARAMCO Hospital, where she met her husband George.

Carol married George H. Hepburn Jr. on March 24, 1983, in Manama, Bahrain, just south of Saudi Arabia.

They spent the past few years traveling around the United States, camping and doing their favorite pastime, square dancing. The couple moved to Sandpoint in 1998.

Carol was a hard workers and an adventurer who loved to travel. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. Carol also enjoyed knitting, sewing and camping.

She is survived by her husband, George Hepburn of Sandpoint; two daughters, Jennifer Hunt and Carolyn Houghton, both of Boise, Idaho; a son, Dan Milligan of Lewiston; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; six stepchildren, George Hepburn III of Chicago, Ill., Bill Hepburn of Atlanta, Ga., Judy Heslep of Orlando, Fla., Bob Hepburn of Orlando, Susan Hepburn of Orlando and David Hepburn of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Carl Dahlberg of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Dahlberg.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital, 911 W. Fifth Ave., Spokane, WA 99204.
