Virginia E. "Gramma" Perry, 77, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at a Boise hospital.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2005, at the Pack River Cemetery.

Virginia was born on June 22, 1927, in Seward, Alaska, to Francis L. and Eleanore M. (Seymour) Kennedy. She grew up and attended schools in Seward. Virginia graduated valedictorian of her class.

The family moved to Washington state where she worked on the naval base in Bremerton, Wash., for several years. It was there she met and married Harold Chester Perry. They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1957 and have resided there since.

Gramma Perry dedicated many years of her life to caring for children in day care services.

She opened her heart and her home to many children who she loved unconditionally.

As her health declined and she was unable to care for the children she missed them as though they were her own.

Virginia loved gardening and especially her flower garden. She also loved reading, sewing, and taking walks. She always looked forward to mushroom hunting in the spring.

Many wonderful hours were spent with family and friends playing pinochle at the family home.

There will be many friends who will miss her dearly. Her home never knew a stranger.

Many thanks from Virginia and her family go to Dr. Puffer and his kisses on her forehead, the staff at Bonner General, especially in ICU, and to the wonderful staff at Life Care of Sandpoint. The family appreciates all the heartfelt prayers on our behalf.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Hal, in 1994; a son, John C. Perry; and her parents.

Survivors include son, Cliff A. Perry (Darlene) of Tacoma, Wash., and their six children; daughter, LeAnne Deshon and life partner, Jerry Laughlin of Boise, Idaho, and her three children; son, Robert A. Perry of Sandpoint and his two children; daughter, Frankie Perry McCall (Ed) of Morganton, N.C. and their six children; son, Harold C. Perry, Jr. (Leona) of Port Orchard, Wash., and their three children; daughter, Vicki A. Grant (Todd) and their son; and son, Tim A. Perry (Lisa) of Boise and their three children. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel of Boise, Idaho.
