| April 22, 2005 9:00 PM

POST FALLS — Jake Way's two-run homer started Sandpoint on to a four-run eighth inning in the first game of the Inland Empire League doubleheader.

The second game was suspended due to darkness with Sandpoint leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, one out and a runner on base. The game will be completed May 4 at Post Falls at 4 p.m., if the outcome affects seeding to regional tournaments.

Jake Howell hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Sandpoint (4-8 IEL, 6-10).

Cody Brubaker hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Post Falls (5-7, 9-8). Trojan Bobby Kuber's suicide squeeze with one out in the seventh scored Mike Aune to tie the game at 6. Post Falls loaded the bases with two out, but Bulldog Glenn Poelstra struck out the next batter looking. Poelstra struck out five and walked three in going the distance.

Post Falls walked nine batters, hit one, and committed four errors. Three of the Trojans' six hits came in the first inning.

Post Falls plays host to Lake City on Monday.
