Vera Elizabeth Straley, 73

Vera Elizabeth Straley, 73, passed away on Aug. 2, 2005, in Elmira, Idaho.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in Coffelt's Moon Chapel. Doug Vaniman, with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 8. 2005, in Rupert, Idaho, under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.

Vera was born in Ripley County, Mo., on May 20, 1932. She grew up in Poplar Bluff, Mo., later moving to Roseburg, Ore. She married Robert H. Straley on Jan. 31, 1950, in Roseburg.

She traveled, and lived, throughout the United States prior to living in Soda Springs and Oakley, Idaho. In 1974, she moved to Rupert, owning and operating the Oases Cafe until 1984. In 1990, she moved to Elmira near Sandpoint, Idaho.

She enjoyed being outdoors, camping and raising flowers, and she loved to travel with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Vera is survived by three sons, Robert H. Straley of Sandpoint, Earl D. Straley of Sandpoint and Ronald J. Straley of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; a daughter, Barbara E. Craythorn of Burley, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Gallion and Leonard Gallion, both of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
