Get involved with community before you criticize it

| August 10, 2005 9:00 PM

Mr. Litsinger:

I have just re-read you rather long article about the changing times and it occurred to me that you should be taking your own advice. In your last paragraph you stated," Get involved, attend meetings, and communicate with your elected leaders ….". It should be noted that you personally did none of these when you made several erroneous statements regarding urban renewal districts. I am at a loss to understand why you were engaging in "bomb throwing " tactics to clearly prejudice public opinion. Possibly if you more clearly understood how urban renewal works, you could have a less antagonistic outlook. That understanding could be gained by coming to the meetings, and contacting those who are directly involved

Secondly, the Panhandle State Bank "financial center" was not approved. The council amended the building height ordinance only. PSB will have to bring a suggested plan to the Planning and Zoning Committee. If the building exceeds forty-five feet in height, they will need to apply for a conditional use permit. If you wish to criticize this administration, or me you are more than welcome, but please have your criticism based on fact and not hearsay or rumor. Come see and hear for yourself and your comments might have more creditability.

RAY MILLER, MAYOR
