Howard Nelson Knott, 58

Howard Nelson Knott, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in Hope, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Tony Nelson officiating.

Howard was born on Oct. 7, 1946, in Hollywood, Calif., the son of Virgil and Marion (Lindsey) Knott. He grew up and attended grade schools in Venice, Calif., graduating from high school in Santa Monica, Calif.

Howard joined the military, serving in the U.S. Navy reserves while working for Garrett Air Research.

He married Joyce Cheeks on Nov. 18, 1966, in Inglewood, Calif.

He was called to active duty, serving with the U.S. Navy in 1967. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to work for Garrett Air Research, retiring after 24 years in 1985.

Howard moved to Hope, Idaho, and bought Holiday Shores Marina that same year. He ran the marina until selling it in 1999.

Howard enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing and camping. He loved his dog, but his number one thing in life was playing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved them all dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Knott; his children, Danny (Charlene) Knott, Lore (Rick) Steiner and Tere (Robert) Schultz; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Marion Powers; his brother, Harold (Mercedes) Knott; and his stepbrother, Gary (Chris) Powers. Howard was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, James Powers; and a stepbrother, Dana Powers.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Sandpoint or the Clark Fork Ambulance in Clark Fork, Idaho.
