Petition seeks reduction in RV licensing fee

| August 20, 2005 9:00 PM

Registered voters and RV owners, there is a petition circulating in Idaho to reduce RV licensing fees. RV, recreational vehicles, which are slide-in campers, camp trailers, tent trailers, fifth wheels, motor homes and horse trailers with sleeping quarters all pay this licensing fee. This fee started in 1985 at $3.50 to each license, and over the years has escalated to $8.50 for the first $1,000 of value and $5 for every $1,000 of value thereafter.

The petition being circulated is requesting that the fee be changed to $8.50 for the first $1,000, and the $5 be changed to $1 for every $1,000 of value thereafter. This will benefit all RV owners.

Petitions for Bonner County registered voters, can be found at Co-op, Lake RV, and Hay's Chevron in Clark Fork. A total of 48,000 signatures are required to get this on the ballot for our vote in November 2006.
