WALLACE — Clark Fork post Ben Maddrey scored a team-high 12 points to help lead the Wampus Cats to a 46-28 win over Wallace Tuesday in Wallace.

The Miners jumped out to an early 12-2 lead, but the Wampus Cats would shut down the Wallace offense to earn the win.

"We were tight and weren't hustling," said coach Brian Powell. "In the second half we started getting after it."

Wallace freshman Nick Arthun celebrated his birthday with a 12 point performance for the Miners.

The Wampus Cats (2-0) travel to Post Falls Christian on Thursday in a battle between two of the top teams in the North Star League.

Clark Fork girls:

The Clark Fork girl's early season shooting woes continued as they fell at home to 3A Bonners Ferry 53-18.

Reyna Allen led the Cats with five points, eight rebounds and three steals. Rashell Trunnell and Bailey Hewitt each added four points, but for the second straight game the Cats (0-2) could not find the bottom of the net. They finished 4-45 from the field and 10-21 from the free throw line.

"We're moving the ball well, getting good looks, but we're just struggling shooting the ball," said coach Mark Stevens. "The season is young; we'll keep working on it."

Becky Lowther led the Badgers with 15 points.
