Lord, forgive those who favor 'unjust' war

| December 7, 2005 8:00 PM

Bill Litsinger in the Vox Populi column (Nov. 10) asks, "Two thousand and counting, when will it stop?"

If we follow the advice of the writer and behave as badly or worse than our adversaries in the pursuit of this unjust war, then the obvious answer will be "when we are all dead."

Perhaps Mr. Litsinger is merely amplifying the word coming from the Bible thumpers in the White House. That's the cabal that "believes" in the Ten Commandments, like "thou shall not bear false witness" and "thou shalt not kill."

One wonders if these people ever heard of Jesus or really took to heart His teachings. "Love thy neighbor as thyself." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount would well serve as the guiding principles of any government.

Perhaps they and many other "Christians" skip all of that in their rush to Armageddon.

"Lord, forgive them; they know not what they do."
