Jamie Dean 'Jim' Hiatt, 73
Jamie Dean "Jim" Hiatt, 73, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Bishop Wayne Roos will conduct the services with interment in Pack River Cemetery.
Friends may call to pay their respects on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, from 3-5 p.m., and on Monday until service time, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel.
Jim was born in Bostwick, Neb., on Aug. 30, 1932, the son of Irvin and Mary Hiatt. He moved to Sandpoint at the age of 5, and attended Bonner County schools.
On Aug. 3, 1951, he married LaRue Roos in Thompson Falls, Mont.
For several years he lived in Dallas, Ore., working in an automobile dealership. He returned to Sandpoint and helped establish Bonner Motors. The dealership sold Ramblers and pioneered the Datsun automobile in the area. The dealership later became Lakeshore Motors, selling Chrysler products. Due to health, he retired a the parts and service manager, in 1980.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed playing his guitar, country and western music, and going camping in the local area.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, LaRue Hiatt of Sandpoint; three daughters, Valiere Lucas of Turlock, Calif., Debbie Willford of Twin Lakes, Idaho, and Jody Redden of Springville, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Hiatt of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; three sisters, Madeline King of Sandpoint, Gen Holden of Spokane, Wash., and Margene McNutt of Cataldo, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fran and Virgil; and sisters, Redena Mosher and JoAnn Knoblick.
Jamie always appreciated and supported the Lions Club Toys For Tots project. Memorials may be made to Toys For Tots in memory of Jamie Hiatt.
