Community's generosity gives tennis courts new lease on life
Who says these aren't "the good old days?" In "the good old days," if something needed to be done, everyone pitched in and made it happen. Each person gave what they good and the end result was something wonderful.
In "the good old days," everyone contributed to the Sandpoint Lions Club's efforts to transform City Beach into one of the area's jewels. A few months ago, the Sandpoint skate park project rolled into reality after years of existing only in the dreams of the community's youth and skateboard enthusiasts.
The latest achievement? The tennis courts at City Beach. Thanks to the community's generosity, the courts will be resurfaced and a new fence built around them. Without the donations, the aging courts would have been torn down because of safety and liability concerns.
And, like many projects before them, the courts owe their new lease on life to the community, everyday folks who gave what they could afford — and together, achieved something pretty remarkable.
