Harry Earl Rogers

Harry Earl Rogers died at the age of 85 on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at the home of his son, Jim Rogers in Midvale.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Midvale Community Baptist Church. Interment will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Harry was born to Vina (Allen) Mitchell and Archie Mitchell on May 21, 1920, at Mound City, Kan. Vina was remarried to Thomas Rogers on April 20, 1931 in Girard, Kan.

The family moved to Grandview, Idaho, in the fall of 1932, where Harry grew up on the family farm.

Harry graduated from Grandview High School in 1938. Following graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1939 and served in the military for a total of 30 years.

He met and married Edna Jane Baldwin in 1942 while stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Harry was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired from active duty in 1974; after attaining the rank of command sergeant major of the Army.

Harry came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 31. He touched many lives with the love and compassion of his Lord.

Harry and Edna retired to Sandpoint, where they were involved in a vital ministry to widows and widowers in the community for some 20-plus years.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his father Archie Mitchell; his mother Vina (Allen Rogers) Weisner; his stepfather, Thomas Rogers; his sister and brother-in-law, June and Paul Snyders; his nephew, Paul Gregory Snyders; and his grandparents, John and Myrtle Allen. He is survived by his sons, Jerald Thomas Rogers (and wife Janice) and James Allen Rogers (and wife Elaine); his grandchildren, John and Rebecca Rogers; his sister, Evelyn (Rogers) Cunnington (and husband Bill), and several nieces and nephews and grandnephews.
