Badger boys drop Clark Fork in non-league play

| December 22, 2005 8:00 PM

BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry used a full court press to come after Clark Fork early and parlayed a 16-4 start into a 58-41 non-league win Thursday night at Bonners Ferry High School.

Matt Rice led the Badgers (3-3,1-0) with 14 points and five rebounds and Richard Robinson added 10 points, five rebounds and five blocks.

"Richard was steady most of the night; the five blocks were big," said Badger coach Gordon Allured. "It was a tough game to predict because they had a depleted lineup. Even though they were depleted in numbers, they played a great game and made us work hard for everything we got."

Clark Fork (2-5,1-1) was without a few of their key players who were sitting out for disciplinary reasons. Tyler Broggi and Brian Young picked up the slack, scoring 14 points apiece and keeping the Cats in the game.

"Brian had his best game. He really hustled and made some shots," said Cats coach Brian Powell. "At only 5-foot-10 he did well to get nine rebounds inside."

Clark Fork has a long layoff and won't play again until Jan. 4, at Mullan.
