Homes will hurt road, displace old farm

| February 2, 2005 8:00 PM

We would like to express our appreciation to councilwomen Sandy Lamson and Alison Burghstahler for listening to the concerns of neighbors of the property recently annexed into the city of Sandpoint. Unfortunately, their "no" votes and the opinion of the planning commission were not enough to prevent the property between Mountain View Drive and Woodland from being annexed.

It will be sad to lose another grand old farm to another out-of-state developer. It will be replaced by 29 homes surrounded by sidewalks and street lights in this rural neighborhood.

It will be interesting to find how much those 29 families will contribute to the further deterioration of the Great Northern Road and to the dangers of the double-tracked railroad crossings on both Mountain View and Woodland roads.
