Free shuts down No. 10 Florida State

STATESBORO, Ga. — Led by Sandpoint High School graduate Logan Free, the Georgia Southern defeated No. 10 Florida State 1-0 in the opening softball game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Free, a sophomore pitcher, struck out six batters and allowed just two hits and two walks in her fifth career shutout. Free, whose earned-run average now stands at 0.78, has allowed just two earned runs on the season, and just a total of four hits in her last two starts.
