Sandpoint Little League baseball and softball gearing up

SANDPOINT — Registration for Sandpoint Little League and softball is currently underway. Forms are available at all elementary schools, Centerfield Sports and Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department.

Anyone interested in coaching baseball or softball can call 255-7441. A training clinic will be held Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at Lake Street Batting Cages.

All interested in umpiring can also call 255-7441. Full training clinics will be held and full equipment will be supplied.

In addition, team sponsorships are still available.

Sandpoint Little League is registering players for the 2005 Softball season now. The program offers league games for players ages 7 through 16. This year, the season will begin April 18 and run through June 24.

Tryouts will be March 19-20 at Travers Park beginning at 2 p.m.

There will be inter-league games this year with teams from Bonners Ferry to Post Falls. Coaching positions are still available.

Players ages 12-14, who are looking for more competitive games and who are ready for tournaments on a traveling team, ASA Softball also has teams forming for this season.

Players in this league will attend tournaments throughout the Northwest. Tryouts are free and will be held March 5, 6, 12 and 13 at Sandpoint Middle School from 9-10 a.m. Players will be able to register in both leagues.
