Keep byway debate to the facts

| January 3, 2005 8:00 PM

While I may make occasional fun of NICAN, I usually try and refrain from singling out an individual for personnel attacks. I don't call into question their right to a position, I'm calling into question their position as being wrong.

Ms. Sedler and Mr. Bordenave pick out pieces of my letters and/or misunderstand most of them, they then degenerate into name calling such as "juvenile" and "sad" just because I don't agree with them and I try to have some imagination when writing.

Of course a study, bought and paid for by them will be slanted in their favor and present the worst-case scenario.

My call for local government help was in siding with the ITD in court, not in any boycott of business. The ulterior motive of which I spoke was illustrated beautifully by the article in the same issue as their letters of how Waterfront Property Development and the Florida cevelopers building the "Seasons" condos want an increase from 45 to 60 feet, or three-story buildings. They forsee a miniature version of Duane Hagadone's Coeur d'Alene empire lining Sand Creek and the high-end clientele they would bring the shops and Realtors.

A brief note on the Dover development, a great friend of mine lost a job preparing land between Upland Drive and the west side of Pinecrest hill a year ago for a housing developement because the Army Corps got wind and stopped it because the bogs there didn't dry up until late June. This and a few cattails made it a wetland.

How could the Dover area be developed under these same rules? I wonder.
