Marina project would create many problems
The Idaho Department of Lands will be conducting a hearing pertaining to an application from Waterfront Property Management (Ralph Sletager) on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Sandpoint Community Hall.
Mr. Sletager is requesting a permit for a commercial marina with 274 boat slips taking up 9.63 acres of water on the Pend Oreille River near Dover. It will extend 400 feet or more into the river. There will be a fuel dock with a sewer pump-out station and boat ramp/launch.
Besides being located in close proximity to an endangered bald eagles nest this project will be a navigational hazard.
An application from Waterfront Management has already been denied for this project. It should be denied again. Citizens of Bonner County should come to this hearing and show your concern for the future of our river.
