Arbutus Mae Hulquist, 92

Arbutus Mae Hulquist, 92, left our world to join her family and friends on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the Jewel Lake Barn on Jewel Lake Road, in Sagle, Idaho.

Arbutus was born on April 26, 1912 in Arpin, Wis.

The family moved to Laclede, Idaho, in 1914 where she attended school and during her first year of school she met a young man that she would later marry, and did.

On July 18, 1933 she married Carl Arthur Hulquist in Spokane, Wash. The family made their home at Jewel Lake, Idaho, and then later living in Superior, Plains and Missoula, Mont., returning to live at Jewel Lake in 1973.

Arbutus was very active throughout her life in 4-H, winning a trip to Chicago. Ill. In her youth and as a 4-H leader. She also was in the grange for 31 years holding various offices and playing piano for subordinate, county and state meetings.

Arbutus was a charter member in the Triangle United Ladies Club.

She enjoyed painting and crafts, playing piano and especially enjoyed gardening and her family.

She is survived by her children, Carl (Kathy) Hulquist of Moscow, Idaho, RuthAlys Wilkinson of St. lgnatius, Mont., Guy (Mae Belle) Hulquist of Jewel Lake, Richard (JoAnn) Hulquist of Amarillo, Texas, Lou Ellen (Glen) Eveland of Rocker, Mont., Jan (Mary Beth) Hulquist of Missoula. Mont., and Elaine (Chris) Obenauer of Jewel Lake; 32 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Stockdale of Sandpoint and Helen Blake of Superior, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa Bertam Mercer and Harriet (Florence) Mercer; two brothers, Cyril and Bertram; and three sisters, Fern Holmberg, Lucille Rembowski and Joyce Simpson; and her husband, Carl Arthur Hulquist.

"Grandma Boo" will be sorely missed by her family.
