Hazel Shattuck, 73
Hazel Shattuck, 73, passed away unexpectedly December 16, 2004. Hazel was born in Veteran, Wyo. on May 21, 1931 to James Morris and Ruth Alma Schoonover and was raised in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Myers Mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, where military honors were accorded.
She married Arthur Herbert Shattuck on September 30, 1950 in Ft. Lee, Virginia.
She served her country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army Woman's Corp. After many years of world-wide service through her husband's military career, they retired in Utah in 1964. Hazel worked at the IRS, K-Mart and Weber County Human Services.
She was an avid volunteer for her community in RSVP, Past-President of the Ogden Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) Auxiliary and chairman of many fund-raising activities and state committee posts. She will always be remembered by the display of her extraordinary determination, courage and unbreakable sense of commitment to those in need, in spirit or body. Hazel was a very outgoing and dynamic person who shared her time and talents with young and old alike.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Shattuck; children, Wayne (Diane) Shattuck of West Point, Utah; Denise (Bruce) Clemonds of Jefferson City, Mo.; Robert (Ann) Shattuck of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Grace (Mel) Carter, Hope, Idaho; Mary (Stan) Buss, Chicopee, Mass.; and Margaret (Edward) Leniger, Beaver Creek, Ore.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Allen Shattuck and a granddaughter, Amy.
