Gertrude Belle Goddard

| January 13, 2005 8:00 PM

Gertrude Belle Goddard — don't call her Gert or Gertie — passed away on Dec. 20, 2004.

She was born in Creston, Iowa, April 15, 1915. She set up housing keeping wherever Dad led her; Nebraska, California, Idaho, Arizona and Washington.

Her husband, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her daughter and son-in-law Penny and Karl Karshner of Desert Aire, Wash., her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Linda Lyon of Las Cruces, N.M.; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called her Grandma G.G.

Gertrude and her husband, Bob, lived a free spirit life. They enjoyed camping and fishing with their dear friends, Ginny and Bud Elder, and traveling to local rodeos with Usona and Payton Schell.

Later in life, they wintered in Tacna, Ariz., where they had their own space surrounded by wonderful friends.

Gertrude was a loving and caring mother. She was always gracious and kind and was always there for you. She lived her last eight months of life in the Landmark Care Center in Yakima, Wash. She won the hearts of every single person there, residents as well as nursing staff.

She died peacefully with her daughter and son-in-law at her side. Momma, I love you.
