Noxon skates past Clark Fork
CLARK FORK — Missed opportunities down the stretch by Clark Fork allowed Noxon to pull out a 60-49 non-league girls basketball victory Thursday night.
"We missed a ton of free throws in the fourth quarter," said Clark Fork coach Mark Stevens. "We went to the line a bunch, missed a bunch and that was the difference in the ball game."
The Wampus Cats were led on the scoreboard by junior Tiffany Van Buren's 16 points and two assists. Junior Jolene Meredith added 13 points, while junior Rashell Trunnell grabbed 19 rebounds and nine points. Sophomore Rayna Allen finished with seven points and four steals.
"Even though we didn't make those free throws in the fourth, I was very happy with the way we played tonight. Noxon is a tough team and Bonnie Smith is a very good player."
Smith led Noxon with a game-high 18 points.
"With every game we play, I see us getting better and better," said Stevens. "And that was my goal coming into this season."
