Library staff deserves kudos
I thank all of those who made possible the recent acquisition of the new computers for our patron use at the Sandpoint library. I know times are hard, money is tight and technology is expensive but somehow the library managed to advance the state of art in computer power. Although I've never owned a Mercedes Benz, it seems as though I'm driving one when I sit down in front of these new computers.
I give my appreciation to the library director, the technology committee and to the board of trustees, who approved the new purchases. I specifically want to thank Gina Emory, technology manager, who has to chase after all the "kvetch," and fix these technologies that have a life and logic of their own. On a number of occasions, Gina untied me from some multi-dimensional Moebius knot that I had gotten myself into. The new computers provide greater speed, enhanced memory, expanded capabilities and increased reliability over the previous generation.
And, while I'm at it, I extend my appreciation to all those souls at the information desk. A number of them have helped me out considerably with computer problems I've encountered.
Finally, I want to applaud the public who voted in favor of the library levy, without with none of this would be possible. Their vote, in favor, represents a social commitment to the public well-being, culture and commonweal of our community.
