Sandpoint wrestlers dominate Lake City, 72-3
SANDPOINT — After a close opening match that fell in favor of Lake City, Sandpoint ran the table for a very lopsided 72-3 Inland Empire League wrestling victory Wednesday night.
"They have some decent kids in their line up, but they don't match up well with us," said Sandpoint coach Mike Randles.
Eight Bulldogs finished the night with pins, starting with freshman Tim Pepperdine at 103 pounds. The remaining pins were earned by sophomore Alec Ward (112), sophomore Kyle Meschko (135), senior Gale Belgarde (140), sophomore Jerod Morris (152), senior Joe Heil (171), junior Nick Uhnak (189) and junior Sheldon Cramer (215).
"Our kids are still coming along and they're getting better and better," said Randles. "Mistakes are still happening and we had a few tonight even though we won the match. But, the fortunate thing is the mistakes are fewer than they were last year and hopefully they'll be even fewer by the time we get to state."
Don Sohler (275) earned the only win for Lake City with a 3-0 decision over Tyler Cramer.
