Clarence Lewis "Bob" Robeson, 81, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Graveside inurnment with full military honors will be held at a later date at the Newport Cemetery in Newport, Wash.
Bob, as he was known, was born on Nov. 5, 1923 in Colville, Wash., the son of Arthur and Emma (Pederson) Robeson. He grew up in Cusick, Wash. and later moved to Newport. He attended local schools and graduated from Newport High School.
He logged in Newport-area forests and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served aboard a ship that was sunk by enemy bombs and was one of seven survivors. He continued to serve aboard other naval ships until the end of the war. He returned to Newport to log then moved to Canada to log and deliver parts and supplies to logging camps.
Bob moved to Spokane, Wash. to work on Kaiser Aluminum's potline. He later moved to Seattle to learn the tile business and went on to own and operate his own business.
He lived in Bellevue, Wash. with his first wife, Jean. After her death he moved to Sandpoint in June 2001. He met his childhood sweetheart, Eva, and married her in Thompson Falls, Mont. on April 25, 2002. They made their home on Selkirk Road.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Robeson of Sandpoint; a daughter, Jewel Ann Robeson of Bellevue; sons Jay Robeson of Lake Alice, Wash. and Chad Robeson of Renton, Wash.; a brother, Pat Robeson of Spokane; and a sister, Mabel Lenon of Priest River, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean; a sister, Bonnie; and a brother, Harold.
Memorials may be made to the Newport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
