Frank H. Piatt, 90, of Lewiston, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at the Veteran's Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash.
A memorial service will held Saturday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Sandpoint, Idaho.
He was born Sept. 21, 1914, to Martin Luther and Emma Piatt in Sandpoint.
He married Nola H. Newell in November 1992. She preceded him in death.
A native of Sandpoint, Frank joined the U.S. Army in 1941, serving in the Philippines and state-side as a weapons trainer, heavy equipment operator and mechanic.
After discharging from the service in 1945 at the rank of master sergeant, Frank went on to travel around the country, mining and prospecting. He worked on the Alaska pipeline for many years, and retired in the late '70s.
Frank enjoyed teaching his children how to fish, spending time outdoors and hunting.
He is survived by his brother, Delbert Piatt of Sandpoint; three sons, Darrell Piatt of Sequim, Wash.; Charles Piatt of Lewiston and Kevin Piatt of Spokane, Wash.; a step-daughter, Teresa Bowlin of Clarkston, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
