Clark Fork crushes Cd'A Charter, 60-40
CLARK FORK — Scoring a game-high 21 points, senior Clayton Hewitt led the Clark Fork Wampus Cats past Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy in North Star League boys basketball action Tuesday night.
The Wampus Cats opened with 22 points in the first period and commanded a 37-18 lead by halftime, which allowed Clark Fork an opportunity to give their bench some court time.
"They've struggled this year a lot and I didn't want to run the score up, because, I've been in the same spot they're in," said Clark Fork coach Jamie Hand. "It was a good game in the respect that a bunch of my guys, who don't see a lot of minutes, got to play."
Hewitt also led the Wampus Cats in rebounds with 11, while junior Kyle Ruen grabbed seven rebounds, nine points and blocked five shots. Senior Dustin Gannon earned six assists and junior Brian Young had four steals.
The Panthers were led by junior Austin Folnagy and sophomore Michael Gleixner. Both players scored 11 points apiece.
The Wampus Cats (3-2, 4-6) play Kootenai on Saturday in Clark Fork, while Cd'A Charter (0-5, 0-8) plays host Lakeside on Thursday.
