SANDPONT — Sandpoint resident Thomas Gibson was recently named to the board of directors for Mountain West Bank.

Gibson is a vice president and financial consultant for D.A. Davidson, where he has worked for the past 10 years. Prior to joining D.A. Davidson, Gibson, who is also a certified public accountant, had his own tax practice in Sandpoint from 1982 to 1994.

Gibson and his wife Tracy are fixtures among many non-profit organizations in Sandpoint, and they both devote much of their time to improving the community in which they live. In addition to raising their three children, Tracy serves as president of the Community Assistance League, a local service organization; and Tom serves on the executive board of directors for two of Sandpoint's newest organizations.

One of the groups benefiting from Gibson's commitment to community is the Panhandle Alliance for Education, which was formed in 2002. Gibson serves as the group's vice president and helps raise money used to supplement programs in the public schools. By enhancing the quality of education in the community, PAFE hopes to raise the achievement levels of the youth in the community.

Community Cancer Services is another organization to which Gibson has devoted his time and talent. He serves as treasurer for the non-profit group, which opened in 2003. A resource and information center for cancer patients and their families, the group has already helped alleviate the financial burden for several area residents battling cancer.

In addition to his involvement in community organizations, Gibson is active in groups related to his service to his clients. He currently serves on the board of directors of Davidson Investment Advisors, a sister company to D.A. Davidson. He has also been a member of the D.A. Davidson's President's Club for the last seven years.

Gibson is devoted to the community in which he lives as well as his work as a financial advisor. He looks forward to continuing to serve others in his new role as board member for Mountain West Bank.
