Virginia Eunice Simmons, 87, passed away on Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at the Gardenia Center in Sandpoint with Patricia Yacker from Spokane officiating.
Virginia was born on July 11, 1917, in Alameda, Calif., to Russell and Eunice (Currier) Holt. She grew up and attended schools in Northern California. She attended college for a short time and theology school for several years.
Virginia married Donald Clark Simmons on June 30, 1939, in Richmond, Calif. She worked as youth director at Eden Congregational Church in Hayward, Calif., in the 1960s. In 1991, Virginia and Donald moved to Sandpoint to be closer to their daughter.
At age 82, in order to assist others experiencing a rise in their kundalini, she authored the book "Reflections of a Mystic Grandmother" about her life and spiritual journey. Virginia was active in Sandpoint Sunday Service at the Gardenia Center. She enjoyed cooking, and reading books about theology, spirituality and metaphysics.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Clark Simmons of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Dona (Frank) Cook of Careywood, Idaho; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Mann of Oakdale, Calif., and Todd Krug of Newark, Del. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Gina Acker in 1998; and a sister, Flora Johansen.
