William Sweigart, 85
William Sweigart, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Chester County Hospital in Aston, Pa.
Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., in Chester Heights, Pa. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at St. Thomas. Internment will take place at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, Pa.
William was born in Aston, Pa., the son of the late Kurtz and Helen McCafferty Sweigart. He was a lifelong resident of Aston.
While living in Aston, he spent summers in Sandpoint, Idaho, for 17 years.
William owned Sweigart and Son Sanitation Co. in Aston. He retired in 1980.
He attended St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Chester Heights, Pa., and did much charitable work benefiting Native Americans. William was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Aston and the Aston Legion Post No. 926.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Violet Fisher Sweigart; his sons, William Sweigart Jr. of Aston and Robert Sweigart of Boothwyn, Pa.; his daughters, Linda Moran of West Chester, Pa., Susan DeSimone of Media, Pa., and Dayle Francisco of Smithville, N.J.; his stepchildren, James G. Smith of Houston, Texas, Diane Bell of Pensicola, Fla., and Penny Fredricksen of Sandpoint; his sisters, Dorothy Kruger of California and Joan Dugan of Ireland; brothers, Paul Sweigart of Aston, Donald Sweigart of Concordville, Pa., and George Sweigart of Camel, Pa.; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Pilkington Sweigart, in 1975; and siblings, Robert and Francis Sweigart.
