John Davis, 58

John Robert Davis, 58, died Friday, July 8, 2005 in Kanab, Utah, after a sudden and brief fight with cancer.

He was born March 13, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Ardith Palmer and Robert Noel Davis.

John was raised in Henderson, Nev., and graduated from Henderson High School. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy, serving as a flight navigator and aviation machinist aboard the USS Enterprise.

John was an excellent finish carpenter, and had worked for more than a decade in the Sandpoint, Idaho area building homes and cabins. He moved to his lot at Deer Springs Ranch near Kanab in 1998, and worked as a Realtor for ERA Utah Properties the past several years.

John greatly enjoyed his property at Deer Springs, and the outdoors in general. He enjoyed hiking, riding horses, flying ultralight planes and being with family and friends.

He will be remembered as a patient, kind man who brought integrity and honesty to all he did. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include fiancee Sunny Murdoch of Kanab, Utah; children Anji (Jason) Manning of Camino, Calif., Aran (Christine) Hoffman of Oahu, Hawaii, and Sarah Buder of San Rafael, Calif.; brothers Steve (Arshelee) Davis of Las Vegas, Nev., and Richard Davis of Golden, Colo.; and a grandson Jordan Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardith and Robert.

Private family services were held at his lot at Deer Springs, where he so wanted to be.

Cremation was arranged with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
