Andrew James "Jamie" Packer, 34, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005, in an automobile accident near Kalispell, Mont.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the First Christian Church in Sandpoint. A visitation for friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel.

Jamie was born Nov. 30, 1970, in Nottinghamshire, England, the son of Richard Julian and Susan Jennifer Packer. He moved, at the age of 4, to Peace River, Alberta, Canada. He attended schools there and, at the age of 8, he started playing golf. Jamie went through the junior program at Mighty Peace Golf and Country Club.

While in high school, he was involved in high school drama, played hockey and volleyball. Jamie graduated from Peace River High School in 1988. He furthered his education and attended college in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada.

Jamie traveled in Europe for a short time, returning to Canada, where he attended Augustana University College in Camrose, Alberta, Canada. It was there he met the love of his life, Sheila Thompson, on the first day of school. He finished his degree at the University of Alberta in recreational administration, graduating in the spring of 1996.

Jamie married Sheila on July 20, 1996, in Milk River, Alberta, Canada. They moved to the warmer climates of New Mexico in January 1997 and then to Sandpoint in December 1997.

Jamie worked at Hidden Lakes Golf Resort as head golf professional. Being the natural athlete that he was, Jamie enjoyed playing hockey, downhill skiing, water-skiing and volleyball with his family. His passion, however, was golf and all that it involved. Jamie held both PGA and CPGA cards. He loved his work and the people of Hidden Lakes.

Jamie was a devoted husband and family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, family and friends. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Sandpoint.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Packer, and three children, Mackenzie Layne Packer, Sydney Jane Packer and Brady James Packer, all of Sandpoint; his parents, Julian and Sue Packer of Peace River, Alberta, Canada; his sister, Becky Packer, and her husband, Troy Geldart; and his grandmother, Eileen Roe of Nottingham, England.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jamie Packer Memorial Fund at the Mountain West Bank branch in Sandpoint or Ponderay, Idaho, or to Hidden Lakes Golf Resort.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
