Joyce Lorraine Robinson, 77, passed away, Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday July 16, 2005, at the Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of Joyce's life will follow at 2 p.m., Saturday at Faith Evangelical Free Church on North Boyer Avenue in Sandpoint with Pastor Harvey Riffle officiating. Private burial will be held at Pack River Cemetery.
Joyce was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in Sandpoint to Arthur and Marie Shields. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1945. Toward the end of World War II, she went to work as a secretary at Farragut Navel Station. Joyce married Lewis Cruickshank in 1947 and the couple moved to Sacramento. Joyce joked about working for the California State Fruit and Nut Department. Mr. Cruickshank passed away in 1958.
Joyce moved back to Sandpoint and went to work for Headland Lumber Company. This is where she met Alvin "Duke" Robinson; they were later married on July 22, 1960. Joyce and Duke raised their family in the Sagle area.
Joyce taught piano lessons fulltime and worked part time at the Sagle schools. In 1981, they moved to Post Falls, where Joyce continued to teach piano, volunteered as at tutor at North Idaho College, and was active in the Christ Community Church. Upon Duke's retirement they moved to their property up Trout Creek near Sandpoint.
Joyce's passion was wildflower photograph which she used to minister God's beauty to people. She had a strong faith and was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, where she was active with their music programs. She belonged to the Oden Busy Bees, and helped make quilts and blankets for the areas emergency medical services.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, needle work, stained glass, picking huckleberries and raspberries, was famous for her huckleberry jams, and enjoyed selling her goods at craft shows and the farmers market.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin "Duke" Robinson of Sandpoint; three sons, Glenn (Michelle) Cruickshank of Haymarket, VI, Robert (Terri) Cruickshank of Portland, Ore., and Larry (Peggy) Robinson of Post Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Carolyn (Graham) Shea of Gresham, Ore.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rachel Olsen of Sandpoint and Arlene Yeakel of Sandpoint.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis; a son, John; and two brothers, Royal and Denny Shields.
