Lakers beat Patriots in tournament

TRAIL, British Columbia — Tyler Lichty pitched a two-hitter as the Sandpoint Riley Creek Lakers beat the Prairie Patriots 2-0 at the Home of Champions Tournament on Friday at Butler Park.

Adam Hodges drove in a run in the second inning for the Lakers (11-16-1) on a fielder's choice grounder. Glen Poelstra had an RBI single in the sixth.

David Carlile gave up three hits for Prairie (12-19), which had just four baserunners in the game.

Sandpoint is 1-1 in pool play in the tourney, having lost to the Spokane Northstars on Thursday.

The Lakers wrap up pool play this morning vs. the Trail Orioles, a semi-pro team, then play another game later in the day against a team to be determined.
