Urban renewal district is menace to public welfare
Anyone considering relocating their home or business to Sandpoint might want to take note that the city has just declared almost 60 percent of the city a candidate for an urban renewal program. State law indicates that these areas consist of that which contributes substantially to the spread of disease, crime, and a social liability imposing onerous municipal burdens, etc.
The city maintains all property rights and can enter, inspect, bore holes, etc on private property. If the property owner doesn't cooperate the city gets a court order. I should also mention that the city can take the property, perhaps your home, and if you won't sell it can confiscate it by eminent domain.
If you wish to move somewhere, consider the implications of moving to a town that has declared itself a menace to public health and welfare.
Hope you attended the meeting Wednesday night at City Hall.
