Marion Floyd Egland
Marion was born in Clear Lake, Iowa, on Feb. 17, 1925, and passed away in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 80 on April 7, 2005.
An informal memorial service will be held at the home of Dick Harringshaw, 3984 Upper Pack River Rd., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2005. All who wish to remember Marion are invited to attend.
Marion and his wife Betty, who passed away in 2001, were longtime residents of Sandpoint, living on Upper Pack River Road. They were married for 41 years, moving to Sandpoint in 1980.
Marion and Betty worked together delivering newspapers and running a restaurant for short periods, but were best known for Betty's bookkeeping and Marion's carpentry services.
Marion served in the Navy during the Korean War but saw no action. He made a living as a carpenter for many years, living in Tunjunga, Calif. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed his dogs and cats. His remains will be interred with those of his beloved wife, Betty, next to the burial plot of Betty's parents on June 25, at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sunland, Calif.
Marion is survived by six children and stepchildren and 10 grandchildren. His older brother, Kenneth, resides in Minnesota. His sister, Virginia, preceded him in death.
